Shotguns on Saturday!

Alright, So....
As embarrassed as I am to admit it... it has taken me twenty years and moving to Logan to go shooting for the first time.
Yup. It's true- Before today I had never shot a gun! Crazy, aye?!
But that all changed as I was able to *attempt* to go shooting this morning for my very first time!
So here's a little about my very first experience of shooting clay discs in Logan!

We all headed up to the most ideal spot for this- a big open area just a few minutes north of campus! Luckily the sky was clear blue and besides the slight November chill- it was perfect weather for shooting!

Now.. I'm not gonna lie. It was a LOT harder to hit the little skeets in real life than all those times I've done it on the WII!
And I really wasn't expecting as big of a kick from when I pulled the trigger!
Being a newbie, I did stumble back pretty bad that first shot.... and now I have a lovely little sore spot on my shoulder!

And while I'm being honest... I was REALLY bad. Like worse than bad! I didn't hit a single one!!!
But I'm sure this won't be my last opportunity to go shooting while I'm at USU so hopefully the skill will come with more practice....?? ;)
Hmm... Maybe not!
BUT even if I never do get any better it was still definitely worth it! I had SO much fun and am so grateful for everyone who took the time out of their busy Saturday to make it happen! I absolutely loved it!
You never know what random adventures are going to come up on your weekends in Cache Valley!
Only two more days until I'm headed home for Thanksgiving Break and then just a couple weeks until the semester is over so I've got to enjoy it all while I can!
I sure do love it here! :)

Wishing you all a Safe and Happy Thanksgiving Break this week!
Keep on Keepin' on!!!

Aggie Basketball

Hey Hey!
So let me tell you why this last weekend was so great!
Two words:

AGGIE BASKETBALL.
Awww Yeah! We had our season opener against USC and it was so great!  The Aggies came out on top with a final score of:
78-65

Of course something that makes Aggie Basketball SOO memorable is "The Hurd" and as you can tell we were definitely pumped for this game!

We played again last night and smoked SUU with a final score of
90-57!
Soo.. you could definitely say this year is off to an AMAZING start! I'm so excited to see what the rest of the Aggie Season brings!

To top off my excitement for Aggie Basketball I finally got my ticket for the USU vs. BYU game which is at Energy Solutions Arena this year!

Soo come November 30, you know where I'll be!
And if you haven't got your ticket yet... you're gonna want to get on that asap. :)

Keep on Keepin' on!!

Falling In love with Fall!

 Alright it's official:
Logan is beautiful!!
Times that beauty by ten and it equals right now because there is nothing better than Fall in Logan!  In my opinion, THIS is the most Wonderful time of the year! Here's a few of the MANY reasons why I love Autumn at Utah State!

1. Aggie Football Games!

It just doesn't get better than this!

2.Pumpkin Carving of Course!

I wish I could take credit for this masterpiece (It was free handed by The Tanner Tagg!) But unfortunately my pumpkin skills are slightly lacking! Either way- We would make a Big Blue Pumpkin at USU :)

3. Intramurals and Sunsets!

They're a big deal.

4. Corn Mazes and Haunted Walks!

There are so many corn mazes or other haunted type things to do within a five minute drive from campus!

5. Fall is EVERYWHERE!

There are SO many trees on campus and they all change into the most vibrant colors!  I didn't even know leaves could turn some of these colors. And then they all start to fall and it turns campus into an Autumn Dream!
So there you have it: some of the MANY reasons why you have got to experience this time of year in Logan! It's my favorite! Now there is that definite chill in the air reminding me that winter is right around the corner and coming fast but I am even excited to see what adventures the snow will bring! And you can be sure that for now I'm going to be enjoying every minute of this as I can!

Keep On Keepin' On!
Happy Fall!

Around the World!

So as I was walking to class this week I happened to walk through such a fun event going on right outside of the student center. Welcome to the Global Picnic!

The Global Picnic is an event set up right on campus that gives you the opportunity to try foods from all different cultures around the world! I only had a few minutes to stop in between one of my classes, but I LOVED every minute I was there! Each booth was set up to represent their club or group here on campus! The members of the club were there serving food and answering any questions you might have!

I enjoyed a DELICIOUS taco from the Latino Student Union! I'm gonna be honest... I was a little skeptical at first because it looked way spicy.... but it turned out to be just perfect! :)

And then we topped it all off with the
sweetest Cinnamon Sugar Tortilla ever!

There were so many different booths, it was hard to pick which ones to stop at in the short amount of time I had! However I was sooo
impressed with the ones that I did get to try!
And I was so excited to stumble upon the picnic
when I was least expecting it. It made my day!
You never know what adventures might show up in your day at
 Utah State!

Now it's the weekend and I'm definitely looking forward to the USU Boise State game tomorrow!!
Keep on keepin' on!
And have a great weekend!

"Networking For Newbs"

Hey Guys!
So tonight I had such a great experience
attending The Student Alumni Association's Annual "Networking for Newbs"
You may be wondering... well what exactly is that...?
Let me tell you how it went :)

Right when I arrived I had the option of getting a professional head shot taken. The photographers will be sending the picture to me to use as a picture for LinkedIn, resumes, or any other resources you may need it for! It was way simple and how nice of them to do that for us students- for FREE!

Once finished with the headshots we had the privilege to hear from one of our former Student Body Presidents, Erik Mikkelsen. He spoke to us on the importance of networking, finding a good mentor, building a resume and pretty much how to succeed now and in the future! He gave tons of good tips that really changed the way I look at networking! Now some of you may be thinking... networking? That doesn't sound very exciting. Well let me tell you what! Erik really made it way entertaining and applicable! It was soo beneficial AND entertaining all in one!

OHHH and let's not forget about the food....

I mean... who doesn't LOVE Kneaders?!

"Networking for Newbs" was open to EVERY student on Campus! It's here for us! For Free! Strictly for our benefit! How great is that?! Not only is it a night set up to help us learn to succeed but it also was awesome being able to chat and get to know so many new people at the same time!
The Student Alumni Association is such a great way to get involved on campus. It creates so many networking opportunities such as this one! I would highly recommend getting involved with it! Everyone and Anyone Can! It's just one of the MANY opportunities you can choose from to get involved here at Utah State!  :)

If you're thinking to yourself.. dang... I wish I could've gone to that... well don't you fret! There will be another opportunity to do "Networking for Newbs" specifically around this time next year! Plus the Student Alumni Association will have multiple events that have to do with networking throughout the year! I know I'll be in attendance :)
Hopefully I'll see YOU there!

Keep on Keepin on!

Homecoming- Street Painting!

USU HOMECOMING IS THE BEST!

There's nothing better than the amount of enthusiasm you feel during Homecoming Week at Utah State!! The week was packed full of so many FUN ways to get involved and make a most memorable Homecoming Week! My very favorite part (Besides our Homecoming Game of Course) is always Street Painting! So you may be wondering what "Street Painting" exactly entails... Well:
The Sunday Night before Homecoming week there are different intersections throughout Logan and by campus that get shut down while we "Paint the Town Blue!" Then Monday- all different groups and clubs on campus gather on Aggie Bull-evard to paint the street! Everyone has a selected plot, a couple hours, and a set amount of paint! OH and it is a competition so it's a pretty big deal :) I LOVE street painting and it is open to ANYONE who wants to join! Definitely one of MANY highlights to my Homecoming week!

Painting on Main Street with The Student Alumni Association!

Alex and I having a grand time painting Aggie Bull-evard!

We started the week out with Street Painting but everything that followed it was AWESOME!
Some of which included:
A Chalk Dance-(If you've ever been to "Festival of Colors" it's similar to that but a dance)
A night of Live Music on campus!
Mr. USU-  This is a huge tradition of Homecoming week- basically a pageant for guys! This years theme was "Super Hero's" Congrats to all those who competed! It was quite the entertaining night! We saw everything from piano solos, to origami, to someone laying in a bed of nails! They were crazy sharp too! Let's just say it was a night to remember!
Powder Puff Games!
Homecoming Dance!
I LOVE BEING AN AGGIE! Especially during Homecoming Week!
OH but of course we could not end Homecoming Week without the Special "True Aggie Night"
This True Aggie Night is one of the biggest because it is one of two nights during the year where Two people who aren't "True Aggies" can both become "True Aggies" by kissing on the A at Midnight! People were lining up at 10:30 to make sure they got up there! The line of couples was HUGE!
I LOVE the traditions at Utah State and am SO Happy to be apart of them!!

I LOVE HOMECOMING!

Hope you all have a great week!
Keep on Keepin on!

Hey Hey! :)
How's it goin?! I'm Megan and I am SO excited to share my view of the Aggie Life with you! I am a sophomore here at Utah State currently studying Elementary Education. I have absolutely LOVED my time here so far and can not wait for all the adventures that are coming up this new year! So come along and follow our journey as Aggies! I hope it gives you somewhat of a glimpse of how great life is up here for us students in Logan :)

It's crazy that school has really already started and is in full gear! We started the year out right with WEEK OF WELCOME :) Week of Welcome is the first week of school- basically there is a super fun event every night of the week to welcome you into what it's like all year long! Most of these are big traditions that everyone looks forward to every year. Traditions at Utah State are HUGE! We go all out :)
Here were some of the highlights of the week for me:

 Day on the Quad.
Every year there is a day set aside where clubs and businesses from around Logan come set up a booth on the Quad. This is one of the many ways we love and utilize our Quad. I love love love Day on the Quad because not only do you get tons of free food and prizes, but you get to know all about the awesome opportunities there are-no matter what your interest is in. Oh and yes-  I may have won free bowling from a hula-hoop contest. :)

80's Dance.
The 80's dance. Need I say more?

It's always a huge hit and this years was honestly one of the most fun dances I've ever been to.
Success. :)

High Stakes Bingo.

When you think Bingo you probably picture 70 year olds and a slow pace environment... or something like that.
But Bingo at Utah State is anything but that.
Actually it's the complete opposite.
At High Stakes Bingo the intensity is through the roof as everyone is competing for awesome prizes such as a flat screen T.V, skydiving passes, an I Pad mini and MUCH more.
It's going to take a lot more than a lucky Bingo card to win this game.
I had so much fun being able to help be the "Prize Girl" this year. One of my favorite nights for sure.

Week of Welcome also consisted of:
A Huge Movie Night
SUCH a FUN Country Concert
Football watch party
Otter pops
and
SO MUCH FUN FOR EVERYONE

We started this year on a high and I can tell it's gonna be a good one!!
That's all for now!
Keep on keepin on :)

GO AGGIES!
